Eius oppid. praecipuum est Novum Castrum. Fuit alias northumbria Regnum, in quo erant Northumbria propria, Cumbria, Westmaria, Lancastria et Eboracensis, cum Dioecesi Dunelmensi, Ioh. Speedus. Fundamenta regni huius posuit Idas, frater Hengisti, circa A. C. 547. e cuius successoribus Edelredus Britones, Gregorio M. subiectionem denegantes, graviter afflixit, A. C. 597. unâ die 1200.
